Meet Chris & Heather M.

Our names are Chris and Heather. We are so thankful for the opportunity to tell you a little about our family. Though we know this must be the most difficult decision you’ve had to make in your life, we want you to know that we admire your courage, your strength, and the unconditional love you have for your child. We met in early 2003 and quickly knew that we were meant to be together. We were married one year later in January 2004. After suffering with infertility for the first two and a half years of our marriage, we were blessed with our baby girl through the gift of adoption in October 2006. Our daughter Alissa is a beautiful, vibrant young girl. She is playful, loving, and very independent!  She loves to do ‘big girl’ things like Mommy, and she is the apple of her Daddy’s eye. From the moment we first held her, she changed our lives forever. We are forever grateful to her birthparents for the precious gift they gave us. We know that without them, we may never have become parents. We want Alissa to know that the decision her birthparents made was entirely out of love for her.

As thrilled as we are to be parents to one adorable little girl, we feel there is still something missing from our family – another child. Though we still struggle with infertility, we would love to welcome another baby into our family. Because we both have so many siblings (Chris has four; Heather has seven), we really want Alissa to have a little sister or brother. She would make the perfect big sister – she loves to play with her dolls and is such a good little ‘mother’ to them and to her younger cousins!

Family time is very important to us. We like to work out in the yard, take bike rides, go for walks, visit with the neighbors and play games together. Alissa loves to help Mommy and Daddy in the garden. Because Heather works part-time, she is able to spend a great deal of quality time at home with Alissa during the week. When we visit our families on the weekends, Alissa has a ball playing with her cousins. She has several who are right around her age.

We have been blessed to watch Alissa grow and are amazed at all the new things she is learning. Parenting has been such a wonderful experience for us; we hope that we will be able to bring another child into our home to nurture and to love. Our first adoption experience has been wonderful – we still keep in touch with Alissa’s birthparents, sending them emails, letters and pictures to let them know how she is doing and what is going on in our lives. Above all, we want them to know how very much Alissa is loved.

We want you to know that we have the utmost respect for you and your decision.  We cannot imagine how difficult this must be for you, and wish you all the best throughout this process and after. We hope that you will consider us as an adoptive family for your baby.  We would be happy to meet or share our lifebook with you if you would like to learn more about us, whatever you feel most comfortable with.
