Hello, We are Ed, Tricia & Maya
We know that this decision you are making is one of the biggest in your life, and we are truly thankful for your time to get to know us. What do you say in a letter to someone who might possibly give you the greatest gift life can give? As Ed and I sit down to compose this letter, we cannot comprehend the emotions that you and your family must be feeling right now. We do however commend you for your courage and strength in choosing adoption. Because of you, our dreams of completing our family are within reach. There is no question that you as the birthmother will always be honored, respected, and spoken of joyfully in our home. If you are comfortable with an open adoption, we would cherish the opportunity to meet with you and share letters and pictures of the baby with you as he or she grows. If you would prefer less contact with us, then we will respect your wishes.
Getting to know us... At first glance of our family, you may say “They already have a child” …but it is our sincere desire to continue to expand our family through adoption. We always knew that we wanted to have more than one child. We would love for our little girl to have a brother or sister to grow up with.
Ed and I met through a mutual friend on a blind date. Early in our relationship we knew we were in love and we were right for each other. We were married on a beautiful day in April 2005. Children have always been a big part of our dreams. After struggling with infertility, including two miscarriages, we decided that nothing would make us happier than to adopt. In November 2008 our dreams came true. We were chosen by a birth mother to be adoptive parents through open adoption. It has been a true blessing! We maintain close contact with Maya’s birth mom and consider her one of the family. We send lots of letters and pictures. We also pick her up occasionally for dinner. We have so much respect for her and cherish our relationship with her.
Ed and I both come from close-knit families with strong family values and Christian upbringings. Ed attended college at U.C. and received a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Criminal Justice. He has been working for a suburban police department for 15 years. His job is very rewarding and he finds great satisfaction in helping people. I am enjoying being a stay-at-home mom and Jazzercise franchise owner.
Our Promise to you... In looking ahead, it is our plan to give our children a fulfilling life and bright future. We will be loving, devoted parents, giving our children a lifetime of unconditional love, support and guidance. We will always encourage them to pursue their dreams and strive to reach their goals. It is important for us to tell our children how their birthmother loved and cared enough to make a thoughtful plan for their future. They will be raised feeling proud of who they are and always know that the decision you made was one of love, the greatest gift. Ed and I would be honored and humbled to be chosen as parents for your newborn. We hope that in reading about us, your decision will somehow be made a little easier.
