 Hello and Thank you for taking a moment to learn about us. We think it takes great courage, love and strength to consider an adoption plan. We wish you success in making a choice that helps you to feel at peace and confident that your child will have the life you desire for him or her.
Us in a nutshell:
We are Joy and Jeff W. We live in the Dayton, Ohio area with our cats and bird. We met in 2004 and were married in 2007. We are a fun, active couple who enjoys music, travel, spending time with our family and friends, outdoor activities including hiking and kayaking, water sports and gardening. Jeff is an avid photographer and loves playing drums, guitar and singing in his band. Joy loves to make jewelry, exercise and cook. We have many friends with small children, so it will be a wonderful experience for our child to have ready-made friendships. Most of our immediate family lives within a 2 hour radius of our home so there is a support system in place and an opportunity for our child to grow up experiencing the support of truly wonderful people who have made us smile all of our lives.
Our decision to create an adoption plan as a way to grow our family has been well thought out. Since we met in our 30’s, we came to the relationship with a strong sense of who we were as individuals as well as what we wanted in a marriage and in a family. We talked openly early on about adoption as a positive choice for us. Though we did try fertility treatments without having success, this is not the only factor in our overall decision making process. Since we are both therapists, we have a natural comfort level with openness in adoption and feel confident that we could make a plan with a birthparent that would ensure the healthiest and happiest situation possible for them, us and our child.
Final thoughts:
One thing we both learned from our families is to “pay forward” the love we have received from others. Not only have they taught us to have compassion for others and treat others as we want to be treated but we have taken it one step further- we have learned to truly treat others with love. Since these principles are ingrained in us from what we have learned, it is genuine. To prove it you have to meet us. You have to witness us together and see why others frequently ask us if we are newlyweds. We grow more in love each day. We are ready to pay it forward. We have prepared for it all our lives.
