We have been together for nine years after experiencing love at first sight on a camping trip in northern Michigan. In keeping with our love of the outdoors, we were married on the beach three years ago, surrounded by our most cherished family and friends. After years of trying to get pregnant, we finally concluded that we were not going to have biological children. However, rather than focusing on the heartache that accompanied that realization, we decided to focus on the positive – the opportunity to adopt a child and provide a great life for someone that may not otherwise have the opportunities that we can provide. This choice came naturally as our adopted nephew, Brandon, is a big part of our lives.
Sherry is a very open and caring person who absolutely adores children. She is a social butterfly, always talking to friends and family. She is very close with our nieces and nephews and never passes up an opportunity to spend time with them. Sherry worked as a waitress for many years while putting herself through Pharmacy school. Sherry recently accepted a position as a Regional Consultant Pharmacist, a work-at-home position that provides her a very flexible schedule.
Josh is a very hard-working person with a big heart. Kids are naturally drawn to him, quickly recognizing that he is just a big kid himself. Josh put himself through law school by working in a Ford factory. His work as a lawyer provides him a flexible schedule as well and permits him to work from home as needed. Josh volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House and also advises a local high school Mock Trial Team. He is also a huge sports fan who enjoys just about every sport on the planet!
Our dog, Chipper, is a big part of our family. He is a Chocolate Labrador that loves kids. He’s really just a big, lovable puppy who is always happy. It’s amazing to watch him play with kids of all ages. He is so gentle with the little ones, but also loves to run, play and swim with the bigger kids.
We enjoy many family activities such as camping, canoeing, walking Chipper, going to local parks, golfing, attending baseball games, travelling and playing Guitar Hero. We also enjoy cooking and feel that it is very important to have dinner as a family. We love to entertain and host cookouts.
Our parents taught us that you can achieve anything through hard work. We hope to pass that important lesson along to any child we are lucky enough to adopt.
