Meet Shannon and Matt Y.

Adoptive family.

Dear Birth Family,

We can only imagine the thoughts and feelings you are experiencing right now as you plan for the birth of your child. Thank you for taking the time to get to know us a little better and consider if we might be a good option for your plans. We admire your courage and strength through this process.

We have been married for two and a half years and have spent the last year trying to have a child on our own. Adoption has been something we have discussed since the early months of our marriage so once fertility treatments were no longer a viable option, it was an easy choice to move onto adoption.

We love to travel together and hope to do so with our growing family in the future. We have already started to talk about where we’d like to go as a family and the list continues to grow!

We have a lot of support around us including our extended family, siblings and Matt’s parents. Everyone is so excited to meet our new addition and have been extremely supportive of our decision to adopt.

Shannon studied Mathematics in college but has recently switched careers to work for a local non-profit. The goal is to open the eyes of high school students to real world problems and how they can make a difference. Shannon also spends a great deal of her time volunteering with various community organizations focused on poverty and social justice causes. She loves to babysit her nephew every Friday where she is delighted to see him grow each week.

Matt was born and raised in Cincinnati, including attending the University of Cincinnati, where he graduated with a degree in Finance. Matt has worked for the same wealth management firm since college where he helps many people get the most out of life. Matt has been a partner at the firm for about two years now. He has a supportive staff that will come in handy when he becomes a father. Matt cannot wait to be called Coach Matt if his child decides to play sports. Most importantly, Matt would relish in the opportunity to be a dad. His parents, who have been married for 37 years, have been so supportive in everything Matt has done. It is because of them, his local extended family, as well as his siblings, that he is the man he is today.

We live in one of the top public school district in Ohio and plan to always live in an area with access to great education, public or private. Both of our families live in this city, so your child will be well loved from the start. Most of our closest friends already have children of their own, so playdates will be easy to come by. Our neighborhood is filled with baby strollers and dog walkers every day. We have two empty bedrooms waiting to be filled.

God is at the center of our lives. He is what brings us closer together now as a couple and in the future as a family. We regularly attend Crossroads Church and have even volunteered to watch others’ children while they attend the week’s service. Our focus in life is not to make the most money or to be the most powerful but to spread the most love. We are so very grateful for all of God’s blessings on our family.
