Meet Tom & Rene H.

Dear Birthparents

Thank you for taking the time to consider us as your child’s family. We want to start by letting you know that you are in our thoughts and prayers as you journey through considering an adoption plan for your child. We admire the strength, courage, and love you have for your child.

Adoption is something near to our hearts. Rene has six cousins and one niece who are all adopted. Our lives were touched by adoption in a special way when our twin daughters, Lucy and Lana were born in March 2015. Our hearts are overflowing with love at the thought of welcoming another child into our family.

Our lives were touched by adoption in a special way when our twin daughters, Lucy and Lana were born.

We met in 2004 while we were both working at a local school. Tom was working as the Band Director/Music Teacher and Rene was working as a long-term substitute teacher. At first friends, we eventually started dating in the summer of 2006 and married in 2010. Our love never stops growing and we are each other’s best friend and biggest supporter.

We feel so blessed to be able to spend our lives together. We enjoy attending a variety of sporting events: high school, college, and professional. We also enjoy attending concerts, plays, and musicals. We love to be outside and enjoy camping and taking walks through nature. We both love spending time with our family and friends.

Rene is 36 years old and is a 3rd grade teacher at a local Catholic school. We have the bonus of Rene having summers off so our children will get to spend that time at home. During the school year we are lucky enough to be able to have Rene’s retired parents care for our children. Rene is caring, warm, and nurturing. She has a very calming presence and is a wonderful mom.

Tom is 35 years old and has a passion for music. He has worked as a band director and loves a variety of music. Tom is currently working as a ParkerStore Manager and is pursuing an MBA. Tom is outgoing, fun, gentle, and loving. From the moment I met Tom, I knew he would be an amazing dad — as he has been to Lucy and Lana.

Lucy and Lana love their playhouse.

We love our home and the small town we live in. Our home is a gathering place for family and friends, and we have a large yard that Lucy and Lana love to explore. Lucy and Lana love to swing and slide on our swingset. We love spending time outside with them as well as with family and friends.

Our small town is a wonderful place to raise a family. With a great school system, numerous parks, a public pool, a splash pad, and many community events, we are proud to call this our home. Best of all, Rene’s parents as well as five brothers and their families, all live in our same small town.

The path of infertility and the blessing of adoption has brought the two of us much closer than we ever thought was possible. Our love is strong and true and the love we have to offer is abundant. We will always honor and respect the decision you made by being honest and upfront with our child about their adoption. Our child will never question that we are here to give them unconditional love and affection. Your son or daughter will always know the sacrifice of love you have made for them.

With much love,
Tom and Rene Hoelscher
